The Ministry of Cultures will grant more than $ 8,500 million to finance projects.

One month after the results of the 2021 call for the Culture Funds, the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage announces the delivery of new resources for the reactivation and recovery of the cultural sector: the Emergency Funds, that will allocate more than $ 8,500 million pesos for the financing of 611 projects.

The first delivery will benefit 611 initiatives selected from the waiting lists of 35 prioritized lines of the 2021 Culture Funds and the 2020 call of the Support Program for Collaborating Cultural Organizations (PAOCC) in its line of Strengthening Management and Programming.

With the idea of injecting resources into the cultural sector and supporting the greatest possible number of cultural workers in the workplace, priority was given to those lines that, due to their characteristics, involved more numerous work teams and that had a high number of projects with a grade that allows their selection.

The 611 selected projects will benefit 2,843 cultural workers in the country, granting more than $ 4,200 million in employment contracts, which corresponds to almost half of the resources delivered. “These $ 8,500 million from the Emergency Funds will benefit some 2,800 cultural workers, which added to the more than $ 26,600 million delivered by the 2021 Culture Funds and the resources delivered to the Heritage area, add up to more than $ 46 billion allocated this year, plus another $ 17 billion from the 2020 Support Plan, so we are talking about figures that the State had never promised for our sector before, a historic fact for the country’s cultural institutions”, highlighted the Minister of Cultures, Consuelo Valdés.

These resources are added to those of the 2020 Support Plan, to the 2021 Culture Funds and will be complemented with the next deliveries of the Emergency Funds.

On the other hand, the 2021 Culture Funds will benefit 592 projects that were selected from the waiting lists in 37 prioritized lines of the six existing funds in the 2021 Culture Funds; In the case of the National Fondart, the Book Fund and the Performing Arts Fund, all the waiting lists considered were covered. The Performing Arts Fund, the Music Fund and the Book Fund were the sectors with the most projects selected from the cultural industry.
